Collage Discovery
For returning students who have completed the Give it a Go class and would like to delve deeper into design principles using collage.
Ripping, gluing and paint splashing is what this class is all about.
We’ll cover key design principles using acrylic paints and collage, applying all sorts of materials, from oriental paper to photographs, movie tickets, string and shells. If it can be glued on, it’s considered fair game. To quote the famous German painter Kurt Schwitters, “The waste of the world becomes my art.”
A successful work of art can result from rearranging the elements and seeing the results. Whether it’s a realistic painting or an abstract work, the design is always important and collage techniques are excellent for learning principles of design. You must see the whole pattern before you notice the individual elements. This concept differentiates a design from a scrap book page.
While art materials are supplied, you may like to bring along your own items to incorporate, to make your art piece more meaningful. A suggestion list will be circulated to registered attendees ahead of the class.
By the end of this class you will have produced your very own collage masterpiece, matted and ready to be shown to the world.
