About Wendy
Wendy Walls is a mixed media artist living in New Zealand. Wendy has sold paintings locally and internationally, and she teaches art classes in Auckland and other centres.
Wendy’s vibrant paintings reflect the rural and coastal settings surrounding her studios at Ridge Farm in Patumahoe and at Mercury Bay in the Coromandel Peninsula. She uses a wide range of media, especially gels, pastes, fluid acrylics, and heavy-bodied and open paints, to produce rich colour and texture.
Wendy trained as a teacher specialising in art and later taught interior design before becoming a full-time artist. She was named Artist of the Year in the Franklin Arts Festival and won three consecutive years the Best Contemporary Painting Award.
Notable American artists have taught and influenced Wendy including Mary Todd Beam, Pat Dews, Mary Alice Braukmann, Katherine Chang Lui, Robert Burridge and Gerald Brommer.
Wendy is a Golden Certified Instructor for Golden Artist Colors of New York. Her flagship Give it a Go art classes are for those with no painting experience as well as traditional painters seeking new direction.
